In a historic political realignment that has sent ripples through Delta State’s political landscape, the Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Chief Ighoyota Amori, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The respected political icon received his APC membership card on Friday in Mosogar, Ethiope West Local Government Area.
Chief Amori’s defection comes in compliance with the recent official movement of the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to the APC on April 28, 2025.
The development marks a monumental moment in the history of Delta politics, as Chief Amori fondly regarded as the “Political Oracle of Delta Central” has been a founding and loyal member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) since its formation in 1998 and had never, until now, aligned with any other political party.
Accompanying the Chief Adviser to the Governor during this historic registration were the Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Council, Chief Chris Onogba; former Council Chairman, Chief Solomon Obareki; and other prominent political stakeholders and party leaders from Ethiope West LGA.
Addressing his supporters shortly after obtaining his APC card, Chief Amori reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the progress and prosperity of Delta State and described his move to the APC as a strategic and visionary step aligned with the leadership direction of Governor Oborevwori.
“The interest of Delta and its people remains my top priority. My move to the APC is in harmony with the Governor’s progressive agenda and our collective vision for a greater Delta State,” he stated.
The occasion attracted a large turnout of supporters, political allies, and well-wishers who converged at Amori’s residence in Mosogar to witness what many have described as a major turning point in Delta Central and State politics at large.
Chief Amori’s entry into the APC is widely expected to bolster the party’s influence and strategic depth ahead of the 2027 general elections, positioning it as a formidable force in the region.
