The Sapele Local Government Secretariat is wearing a new look as extensive renovation works spearheaded by the Council Chairman, Hon Bright Abeke, gather momentum.
Speaking during an inspection of the ongoing facelift, Hon Abeke described the project as a bold step towards repositioning the Secretariat building for effective service delivery.
“We are transforming this Secretariat into a befitting edifice that reflects the aspirations of the people of Sapele,” Abeke stated. “This renovation is not just about aesthetics; it’s about creating a productive and dignified environment for our staff and the public.”
He explained that the initiative was borne out of a desire to address years of infrastructural decay and restore pride to the seat of local governance. “This is a legacy project. We are repairing what has been left to deteriorate for too long. When completed, this Secretariat will stand as one of the most modern and functional in Delta State,” he assured.
The scope of the renovation covers both the interior and exterior of the Secretariat complex. Works include repairing and replacing damaged exterior walls, upgrading windows and doors, repainting all walls, fixing worn-out ceilings, and installing new lighting fixtures. Electrical systems are also being overhauled to improve safety and energy efficiency across offices.
In addition to structural upgrades, the surrounding environment is being beautified with well-landscaped gardens and vibrant blooming flowers to give the secretariat a more welcoming and professional outlook.
The renovation has drawn widespread commendation from staff and residents alike, with many describing it as a timely intervention that will boost morale and enhance the council’s image. Observers note that the improvements will significantly raise the standard of local administration in Sapele.
Hon Abeke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing the project within schedule and ensuring its sustainability. “This Secretariat will remain a centre of excellence long after we have gone, provided future administrations continue on this path,” he noted.
Now at an advanced stage, the facelift is already being hailed as a reference point for other local government councils across Delta State and is expected to strengthen public confidence in governance at the grassroots level.
