The Chairman of Sapele Local Government Council, Hon. Bright Abeke, has pledged unwavering support for the Delta State Education Monitoring Team in its quest to strengthen quality education across the local government area.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the team to his office on July 14, 2025, Abeke commended the initiative and stressed the importance of collective responsibility in achieving sustainable educational development.
“This visit demonstrates a proactive approach to collaboration, which my administration strongly values. As a council, we recognize that quality education forms the bedrock of every thriving society,” Abeke stated. “We will ensure full collaboration with the state monitoring team to achieve the best possible results for our schools and our children.”
The council chairman reiterated his administration’s commitment to advancing education in Sapele, assuring the delegation that all necessary support would be extended to facilitate the team’s operations.
“Our focus remains on providing an enabling environment for our students and teachers. Through partnership with stakeholders like the Education Monitoring Team, we are confident we can raise the standard of learning and promote excellence in our local schools,” he added.
Earlier, the leader of the visiting team, Elder Chike Ugummadu, outlined the objectives of their assignment, noting that the monitoring exercise was part of a broader mandate to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education across Delta State.
“Our aim is to promote excellent leadership, good governance, and accountability in the management of educational institutions,” Ugummadu explained. “We are seeking the collaboration of local government councils to strengthen our monitoring and evaluation methodologies. This synergy is crucial to improving educational outcomes at the grassroots level.”
Ugummadu emphasized that the team’s operations would involve regular assessments of school facilities, teacher performance, and student welfare to identify gaps and recommend actionable interventions.
The Education Monitoring Team, which included Chief Ugbeh Peter N. (Secretary), Dr. Onyeangu Peter, Dr. Ogbe Abel Lucky, and Chief Mrs. Onajite Terry Noah as members, also engaged in interactive sessions with local government officials to discuss strategies for effective collaboration.
The meeting, held at the Sapele council secretariat, was well-attended by councillors, the Executive Secretary of the Local Education Authority (LEA), Pastor Dave Inoaghan, the Supervising Councillor for Education, the Chief Inspector of Education, and other key stakeholders in the education sector.
