
Civil Servants in Delta State have been advised to move away from the manual way of storing files to digital system of transforming and modernizing government services, processes and operations for effective and efficient service delivery.
The Head of Service of Delta State, Dr (Mrs) Mininim Oseji gave this advice at the Annual Public Lecture organized by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, Delta State Branch, which took place on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at the Unity Hall Government House, Asaba.
The Head of Service who commended the Federal and State Executive Members of the CIPM for organizing the event, emphasized the importance of digitization in the Civil Service as it makes work better, smarter, easier, faster as well as being cost effective.
Pointing out that the theme of the conference,” Future Proofing the New Order Of Work : Digitalization of the Public Sector” was both apt and timely in this digital world, the Head of Service stressed that “from the comfort of your home, you can reach anywhere in the world.”
Dr Oseji who received an award from the Institute, expressed appreciation to the National and State Bodies for the confidence reposed in her as an Advocate of Digitization in the civil service of Delta State.
In their separate welcome addresses, the Chairman of Session, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Mrs Oghenekevwe Agas and CIPM branch Chairman,Mrs Tega Olowohunwa commended the CIPM management for their proactiveness in bringing the digital system to the civil service of the state.
Referring to CIPM as the foremost professional body in Nigeria, they stressed that commitment was required on the part of everyone to be ready for action as regards digital technology.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Directorate of Government House Affairs,Mr Victor Udi noted that CIPM was renowned for knowledge advancement, stressing that the theme was far- reaching and innovative as it resonates with the rapidly changing world.
He maintained that combining Digitalization with Human Capital Development would result in a Public Service that is efficient, responsive and ready to serve.
Other speakers who supported the Digitalization of the Public Service include the Panelists, Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Governor Office, Dr Anthony Nwokolobia, Civil Service Commission,Mr Fred Yoro, Ministry of Youth Development, Dr Ngozi Mogbolu and Dr Faith Eborka, Senior Lecturer, Dennis Osadebe University, Anwai Asaba.
