
On July 14, 2025, the Isoko South Local Government Council played host to a momentous event at the Guy Otobo Hall, where Chairman, Hon. Ovoke Warri, the local government chairman empowered 55 market women across the 11 wards with a sum of N200,000 each.
This initiative, part of the Chairman’s one-year anniversary celebration in office, is aimed at boosting the economic activities of these women and enhancing their businesses.
In his address, Chairman Wari urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds judiciously, emphasizing that proper utilization would attract more support from him in the future. He warned against using the money for frivolous purposes, stressing the importance of investing in their businesses to achieve growth and sustainability.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of N200,000 in cash to each of the 55 market women, who were picked from the 11 wards of the local government area. The presentation was made by Chairman Wari Ovoke, flanked by his Vice, Honorable Theresa Ekrike, and the Legislative Leader of the House.
The market women were overjoyed by the gesture and expressed their profound gratitude to Wari for his kindness and commitment to empowering them. They pledged to make the best use of the funds to enhance their businesses and improve their economic well-being.
