Parents have been admonished to prioritize the educational needs of their children and take it seriously in order to build a solid foundation with the requisite skills and knowledge to be able to impact their own lives and that of the society.
The Proprietress of Grace of Light school, Amachai Quarters, Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, Mrs. Patricia Adaeze Ideh stated this during the 2025 graduation ceremony held at the school premises.
Ideh, who said that graduation ceremonies in the life of any institution was a moment to celebrate their children for their brilliant performances, noted that some of the learners in the school recorded one of the best results in the just released Cognitive/Placement, otherwise known as primary six results.
She explained that the academic excellence being recorded in the school was in the right trajectory, reflecting the policy direction of the institution whose philosophy is geared towards equipping children in Okpanam, especially those from the less privileged background with the skills and knowledge to unlock their potential.
Ideh said that the objective of the school was to provide qualitative, affordable and accessible education to all, adding that the school would continue to maintain its standard.
She wondered why most parents were unable to pay the school fees for their children even when it was more or less a stipend, stressing that they should embrace the habit of equipping their children with instructional materials such as textbooks.
The school Proprietress lauded Sir Amb. Felix Ideh for providing scholarship to some outstanding children in the school, just as he appreciated the immediate past chairman of Amachai youths, Comrade Emmanuel Dinjor Agala and Engr. Mike Asoya and his family, as well as other well-meaning individuals in the community for their unflinching support.
Earlier, the chairman of the occasion, Ogbueshi Azubike Okafor and Ogbueshi Anthony Mokogwu urged the graduates and the entire pupils of the school to be humble, respectful and be a good student at all times.
Ogbueshi Okafor told parents that they have so many responsibilities for their children and made them know that education was not a scam, instead they have a lot to benefit from education.
They said that education was the only genuine vehicle that would lead the children to where they desired to be in future.
In his welcome address, the Head teacher of Grace of Light school, Ogbueshi Patrick Obienyi said that the graduation ceremony was an opportunity to celebrate and honour the children who had done everything academically possible to advance to the next class.
While appreciating the Proprietress of the school for her unwavering commitment to provide affordable and qualitative education in the community, Ogbueshi Obienyi appealed to parents to support the school in its determination to take the school to enviable height.
He said that in the 2024/2025 academic session, the school enrolled nine pupils in the first school leaving certificate examination while five were registered in the just concluded Basic Education Certificate Examination.
