
The Commissioner for Youth Development, Delta State, Barr ThankGod Trakiriowei, on Tuesday, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering young people and celebrating their contributions to society on the occasion of International Youth Day, observed annually on August 12th.
In a statement made available to the press, the Commissioner highlighted the Government’s ongoing efforts to support youth development through various programs and initiatives. These include skills training, entrepreneurship and educational support, mentorship programs among others.
”Today, we join the global community in recognizing the vital role that young people play as agents of change, leaders, and innovators. Their energy, creativity, and passion are essential for building a prosperous and sustainable future”.
The Commissioner emphasized the importance of digital literacy and access to technology for young people in today’s world. “We are committed to creating an enabling environment where young people can thrive. We are also working to address challenges such as unemployment and limited opportunities for empowerment,” he said.
