
The Chairman of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata has called on the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) to collaborate more closely with the Service, particularly in the area of whistle-blowing against tax defaulters, evaders, and those underpaying their correct taxes.
Speaking during a courtesy visit, Tuesday, by the District Executives of ICAN Warri & District Society, led by their President, Mr. Jude Esegbuyota Inana, Ighrakpata commended the leadership of the Institute for its consistent contributions to professional development and the accounting profession in Delta State.
The Revenue Boss pledged his unwavering support towards the growth and advancement of ICAN Warri & District Society, assuring the visiting delegation of his readiness to strengthen the relationship between the two institutions.
He expressed appreciation for the free accounting lecture series being organised by ICAN, describing it as a laudable initiative aimed at building capacity, empowering technical staff, and grooming the next generation of professional accountants.
While highlighting the achievements of his administration, Ighrakpata disclosed that the Delta State Internal Revenue Service had surpassed its revenue target for 2024. He added that the Service under his leadership will not rest on its oars but will work assiduously to exceed the 2025 revenue target. According to him, the agency remains committed to generating the resources needed to fast-track the implementation of the M.O.R.E Agenda of the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration.
