
The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, will, on Monday 29th September 2025, formally swear in 57 newly appointed Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN).
The event will take place as part of a special court session of the Supreme Court of Nigeria to herald the commencement of the 2025/2026 Legal Year. The event is billed to commence at 10:00 am at the Supreme Court’s main courtroom in Abuja.
A statement issued by Dr. Festus Akande, the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Supreme Court stated that the special court session will also feature a ‘State of the Judiciary’ address by the CJN, reviewing the performance of the Supreme Court during the 2024/2025 legal year.
Also billed to deliver goodwill messages at the Court session will be the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), and the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
It will be recalled that the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) at its 169th Plenary meeting in July and presided over by the CJN, approved the elevation of 57 lawyers for the prestigious title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) rank in the 2025 conferment cycle.
Amongst those to be sworn in as Senior Advocate of Nigeria are the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Delta State, Omamuzo Erebe Esq. Other legal practitioners who made the list include Victor Esiri Akpoguma Esq., Oromena Justice Ajakpovi Esq., Hannibal Egbe Uwaifo Esq. and Adakole Edwin Inegbedu Esq. The sole candidate appointed from the academic category is Professor Chima Josephat Ubanyionwu.
