The Delta State Civil Service Commission has announced the commencement of the sale of entry forms for the 2026 Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) Public Service Examination, which serves as a key qualifying test for entry into the Administrative and Special Departmental Cadres of the State Civil Service.
In a statement issued in Asaba and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Frederick Yoro, the Commission disclosed that the examination is scheduled to hold on Thursday, January 29, and Friday, January 30, 2026.
According to the circular, positions open for competition include Administrative Officer Grade II (SGL 08), Auditor Grade II (SGL 08), Accountant Grade II (SGL 08), Registrar of Cooperative Societies Grade II (SGL 08), Produce Officer Grade II (SGL 08), and Inspector of Taxes Grade II (SGL 08).
Mr. Yoro stated that to qualify for registration, applicants must have had their appointments confirmed and possess a degree in Sociology, Psychology, Public Administration, Political Science, International Relations, other Social Sciences, Liberal Arts, Banking and Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or Agricultural Science.
He added that candidates with degrees in Agricultural or Biological Sciences are eligible to apply specifically for the position of Produce Officer II (SGL 08).
The Permanent Secretary explained that the ASCON examination is designed not to test academic knowledge but to evaluate candidates’ analytical ability, command of written English, and knowledge of current affairs, especially those relating to Africa and public service administration.
Interested candidates are advised to obtain entry forms from the Department of Recruitment and Promotions, Civil Service Commission, Asaba, upon payment of a non-refundable fee of ₦25,000 via Bank Draft payable to the Commission’s Unity Bank Account No. 0010840393.
He stated that the forms would be available for collection from Wednesday, November 5, 2025, while the deadline for submission of completed forms is Friday, January 23, 2026.
Applicants are required to attach three recent passport-sized photographs, two sets of academic credentials, a certificate of local government of origin, and a marriage certificate where applicable.
The Commission warned that late submissions will not be accepted or processed.
Mr. Yoro further emphasized that passing the ASCON examination does not automatically guarantee employment into the Delta State Civil Service for non-civil servants, adding that recruitment remains subject to available vacancies and existing government regulations.
He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to maintaining high standards in public service recruitment and professional development, noting that the ASCON examination remains a vital platform for promoting merit and excellence in the Delta State Civil Service, “The ASCON exam is a vital platform for promoting merit and excellence,” says Yoro.
