Law Officers in Delta State have been commended for being the pillars of the Nigeria legal system, upholding the rule of law and advancing justice in the Society.
The Head of Service of Delta State, Dr. Mininim Oseji gave the commendation at the National Executive Council Meeting of the Law Officers Association of Nigeria, which was held in Asaba.
She explained that Law Officers play a vital role in providing quality legal advice, drafting legislation and representing various state governments in legal proceedings.
Expressing her pride to be in a position to lead a talented team of legal practitioners in Delta State, she stressed that their expertise and professionalism were invaluable asset to the state administration.
The Head of Service thanked Almighty God for the elevation of Mr. Omamuzo Erebe, Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Justice, to the prestigious position of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and stated that the achievement was a testament to his dedication, expertise and commitment to the legal profession.
She enjoined the Officers to use the NEC Forum to share experiences, exchange ideas and find solutions to challenges that are facing the legal profession. She added that they must offer contributions that are essential to shaping the future of our legal system.
Declaring the NEC meeting open, the Attorney – General and Commissioner for Justice, Delta State, Honourable Ekemejero Ohwovoriole charged Law Officers to always drive professional excellence in the dispensation of justice. He outlined several measures implemented by his Ministry to enhance the working conditions of the Law Officers in the State, adding that the State Government was committed to strengthening and enhancing the structure of the legal system.
He described innovations embarked upon which include digitalization as well as the criminal information system which will record and archive the data of anyone convicted of a crime anywhere in Delta State.
