Adeola Ajayi, the director-general of the Department of State Services, DSS, met with President Bola Tinubu on Friday night for update on insecurity across the country.
According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the meeting held at the Presidential Villa.
Onanuga posted a picture from the meeting on his X (Twitter) handl, and wrote: “The Director General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Mr. Tosin Adeola Ajayi briefing President Bola Tinubu on the security situation on Friday night.”
Schools shut
Meanwhile, with the latest wave of abductions seemingly targeted at schools, authorities approved the closure of schools until further notice.
Yesterday, due to the resurgence in the abduction of students in schools in some parts of the country, the Federal Government ordered the closure of 41 unity colleges with immediate effect.
The affected schools are: FGGC Minjibir, FTC Ganduje, FGGC Zaria, FTC Kafanchan, FTC Dayi, FGC Daura, FGGC Tambuwal, FSC Sokoto, FTC Wurno, FGC Gusau, FGC Anka, FGGC Gwandu, and FGC Birnin Yauri.
Others are FTC Zuru, FGGC Kazaure, FGC Kiyawa, FTC Hadejia, FGGC Bida, FGC New-bussa, FTC Kuta-shiroro, FGA Suleja, FGC Ilorin, FGGC Omuaran, FTC Gwanara, FGGC Bakori, FGC Ugwolawo, FGGC Kabba, FTC Ogugu, FGGC Bwari, FGC Rubochi, FGGC Abaji, and FGGC Potiskum.
Also affected by the immediate closure order are: FGC Buni Yadi, FTC Gashua, FTC Michika, FGC Ganye, FGC Azare, FTC Misau, FGGC Bajoga, FGC Billiri and FTC Zambuk.
Also, Governor Umaru Bago of Niger ordered the immediate closure of all schools in the state following the abduction of children from a Catholic school in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of the state.
