Troops of the Nigerian Army have apprehended 27 suspected illegal miners in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and neutralized three terrorists during sustained operations across the country over the last 24 hours.
A credible military source disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja. The source said troops of the 7 Guards Battalion, operating under Operation MESA, raided an illegal mining site at Iddah, near the Bwari Area Council of the FCT, arresting 27 suspects and destroying their camps.
According to the source, items recovered during the operation included a dane gun, four motorcycles, and assorted mining equipment.
Additionally, troops have mounted roadblocks along the Bwari–Ushafa–Dutse axis to enhance security.
The source added that the three terrorists were neutralized during coordinated offensive and response operations as troops maintain pressure on criminal elements across multiple theatres. (NAN)
