The Head of Service of Delta State, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji has officially taken over the neonatal equipment donated by the Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS) in Asaba.
Dr. Oseji praised the donation, which is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of OPTS, and thanked the five oil companies involved, noting that OPTS will be listed as the first organisation in the database of philanthropists for development being compiled by the Office of the Head of Service in collaboration with the Ministry of Humanitarian and Community Support Services and Girl Child Development.
She promised to ensure the handing over of the equipment to the three beneficiary primary health centres namely:
1. Comprehensive Health Centre, Idumuje-Unor, Aniocha North LGA, Delta North Senatorial District.
2. Warri South LGA Health Centre, Warri South LGA, Delta South Senatorial District.
3. Gana PHC, Sapele LGA, Delta Central Senatorial District.
The equipment donated are for the implementation of a project to improve neonatal health care, initiated by the late medical Icon in Neonatology, Prof (Mrs.) Angela Okolo, a project to be implemented by the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba in collaboration with the Delta State Hospitals Management Board, Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency and the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria. The Head of Service called on others to support healthcare in Delta State.
OPTS representatives, Mr. Gwueke Ajaifia, Dr. Jide Obosi and Lola Adelore thanked the state government for its support and commitment to better healthcare particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
