The Senior Policy Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon Funkekeme Solomon, has assured public service workers that their welfare remains a priority to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
He gave the assurance when a delegation from the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Delta State, paid him a courtesy call in Asaba.
He said the Delta State Government has had mutually beneficial relationships with the workforce over the years, enabling the synergy to create a regime of industrial harmony.
Noting that Delta State is one the few states that have fully implemented the federal minimum wage, he said the government has not failed to execute projects that have lifted the state to a higher pedestal.
His words: “Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has turned Delta State to a huge construction site. The DSC roundabout, Enerhen junction as well as the Agbor and Ughelli flyovers are in various stages of execution. These projects are of international standard.”
Solomon said Governor Oborevwori has not borrowed from any financial institution since he came into office, attributing it to diligence and transparency in the management of resources.
Earlier, the chairman of the Delta TUC, Comrade Wilson Asekutu, congratulated the Senior Policy Adviser on his recent appointment as the Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Delta State.
He commended the state government for the mutual understanding over time and working synergy.
Comrade Asekutu appealed to the state government to increase the welfare package of the workforce as a way of encouraging the people to bring out the best.
“We appeal that the government will remember the workforce during festive seasons by a way of paying the 13th month as is done in some states,” he added.
The delegation later presented a Leadership Meritorious Award to Solomon.
