The recently concluded ward and local government congress across the 25 local government areas of Delta State has been hailed as a resounding success.
Hon. Ejiro Etacherure, Delta State Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, shared his insights on the significance of the party congresses which took place over the week, in an interview with Delta broadcasting service Asaba in his office.
Etacherure, who hails from Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state, said the congress is aimed at strengthening the democratic process at the grassroots level, providing a platform for party members to express their voices and engage actively in the political landscape of the state, noting that the participation from thousands of party members, the congress has ignited optimism and enthusiasm among stakeholders in Delta State’s political arena.
Hon. Terry said the congress witnessed the election of new party officials at both the ward and local government levels, with candidates emerging after a rigorous process of nominations and voting. Observers and party leaders have commended the peaceful conduct of the congress, which reflected the maturity of Delta State’s political environment.
Hon. Etacherure highlighted the importance of these elections in fostering unity within the All-Progressives Congress party and ensuring that the voices of constituents are adequately represented. He reiterated the need for leaders to remain accountable to the electorate, a sentiment echoed by numerous participants at the congress.
Hon. Etacherure emphasized that the elections were conducted fairly, dismissing claims of irregularities and predetermined outcomes. He highlighted the commitment of the APC to uphold democratic principles and ensure that the voices of the party faithful are respected.
“The APC is firmly rooted in the ethos of democracy. We value the input of our members and are dedicated to fostering an environment where everyone can participate actively in the political process,” said Etacherure. He further reassured that the party was ready to embrace the renewed hope for the “More Agenda” set forth by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.
