A United States-based businessman and certified financial expert, Chief Agwu Ama Agwu, has pitched his tent with the African Democratic Congress as he prepares for the Afikpo and Edda Federal Constituency race in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, on Monday night, he said the delay in giving his nod to contest stemmed from the fact that he was consulting widely to determine the most suitable political platform to actualise his ambition to represent his people.
Agwu, who hails from Amiri Ward, Ekoli Edda community in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, said he was motivated to join the race in order to deliver effective representation for his people.
He added that he would adopt a community-based approach in the discharge of his legislative duties
Pitching with the ADC, the businessman said his decision was driven by the need to strengthen federal representation for the constituency and ensure that the voices of Afikpo/Edda Constituency are adequately heard in national discourse.
He said, “This is to inform the people of Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency and my party members, the African Democratic Congress, that I am contesting to represent them at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly, and the objective is to make laws that will change the narratives.
“As a community-driven person, I have all it takes to offer the people a special kind of representation in the National Assembly that will impact their lives positively.”
Highlighting his over-a-decade experience in the private sector with local and foreign firms, the ADC aspirant said he possessed the competence, credibility and capacity to deliver results, stressing that leadership must be measured by its impact on the people.
“I am contesting this election to touch lives. I am contesting to further liberate my people and unify them. I am running to restore transparency and accountability to the constituency.
“And I can’t do it alone without the support of my Afikpo/Edda people. This is why I am seeking their support. In the weeks to come, we will further engage and strategise,” he added.
