The Delta State Ministry of Information has urged information officers to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) and leverage its growing capabilities to improve productivity, content creation and digital communication.
The call was made at a one-day seminar and workshop on Artificial Intelligence, Automation and Content Creation, organised by the Ministry in collaboration with the Your Today Your Future Initiative (YTYFI).
The training, which focused on equipping participants with practical knowledge of emerging AI technologies, attracted information officers from the Ministry, representatives of other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, students and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Works ( Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, represented by the functioning Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Stella Macaulay, urged information officers to take advantage of the opportunities offered by AI to enhance their professional capacity.
Macaulay said AI had become an important part of the modern information and communication landscape, stressing the need for officers to adapt to technological developments.
She said, “AI has come to stay. We need to embrace it, use it and move to the next level. The future belongs to those who innovate and adapt.”
She encouraged participants to apply the knowledge acquired from the training to improve their daily tasks and contribute to the digital transformation of the Ministry.
In her presentation, the Founder of Your Today Your Future Initiative, Mrs. Margaret Princess Okolo-Francis, said the AI revolution was already underway, urging participants to acquire the necessary skills to remain relevant in an increasingly technology-driven world.
She took participants through various aspects of AI automation, including content creation, digital marketing, e-book production, music creation and financial applications.
Okolo-Francis explained that AI could transform conventional digital workflows by reducing the time and effort required to perform routine tasks while improving efficiency and productivity.
She also demonstrated how participants could identify appropriate AI tools for specific professional tasks and develop simple automation systems to streamline their workflows.
Among the AI tools highlighted during the training were ChatGPT, Claude and Jasper for text-based content creation; Midjourney, DALL-E and Canva AI for visual content; and Runway, Opus Clip and Descript for video production, editing and automation.
The facilitator stressed that the objective was not merely to introduce participants to AI tools, but to equip them with practical knowledge on how to integrate the technology into their respective areas of work.
