Nigerian man arrested for allegedly defrauding foreign national

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Benin has arrested a 21-year-old man for alleged fraud following a petition by a German national.

A statement by EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren said the victim complained to the commission that Irabor Kennedy Osasogie defrauded her of €17,000.

According to Mr Uwujaren, the petitioner claimed she met Mr Osasogie through social media after she was defrauded of €68,000 by one Michael Patrick.

He said the German citizen, known as Antje, alleged that Mr Osasogie offered to assist her recover the money, but instead defrauded her of €17,000.

The EFCC statement aded that upon his arrest, the suspect said he only received €12,850.
