The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi says he will rebuild the Niger Delta region if he is elected President come February.
Mr Obi made the pledge when he took his national campaign tour to Bayelsa state.
The Labour Party Candidate said the region was unfairly treated despite “their rich oil resources”.
“Going round the entire Niger-Delta, and Bayelsa state in particular, I stand here to say that Nigeria has not been fair to the Niger-Delta region,” he stated.
On the increasing case of crude oil theft in the region, Mr Obi promised to “put an end” to the menace if elected president, saying he will ensure that the right people, “people with competence and commitment” are in his government.
An Obi Presidency will make states contribute to the federal purse, he promised, stressing that “when states contribute, they can make more money for the Nigerian state “.
