The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency in Zamfara, Abdulmalik Zubairu has donated N50,000 to each of the victims of the Zamfara military airstrike.
The 19 victims of the incident from Malele and Mutunji communities of Dansadau emirate, Maru Local Government Area, are currently receiving treatment at Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau.
Mr Zubairu made the donations during a “sympathy visit” to the victims at the hospital in Gusau on Tuesday.
The donor said he was making the cash gifts to the 19 victims to help them “cushion” their hardship and difficulties due to the air attack, which he said was carried “out in error”.
Mr Zubairu described the incident as “unfortunate and worrisome”, saying that such a tragedy had never before happened in the state.
He urged the victims to consider the incident as a “test from the Almighty Allah”.
As he extended his commiserations to the Zamfara Government and Maru Local Council, Mr Zubairu harped on the importance of tackling insecurity through the engagement of youths on skills acquisition, promising it will be one of his “major blueprints”, if elected to represent Maru/Bungudu federal constituency in next year’s general election.
