
Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has signed the 2023 budget of over N243 billion into law for this fiscal year.
The budget is N5billion above the estimate presented to the State House of Assembly for consideration and subsequent passage into law.
At a brief ceremony in Minna, Governor Abubakar Bello explained that capital expenditure stood at over N152billion while recurrent expenditure is over N91billion.
Under the sectoral breakdown, administration had over N9 billion, the economic sector got over N102 billion, law, and justice had more than N1billion while the social sector is to gulp over N38 billion.
Alhaji Bello said that his administration was not unmindful of the shortfall of resources and is hopeful that the budget would be for the benefit of entity people in the state.
He however explained that the incoming administration might make some changes or maintain what is already approved and expressed optimism that the 2023 budget if implemented up to 90%, would bring about a better Niger State.
The Speaker Niger State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Bawa Wuse represented by the member Representing Chanchaga Constituency, Alhaji Ahmed Guni presented the budget to the Governor for assent at the occasion.
Governor Abubakar Bello had on the first of November last year presented over N238billion budget proposal to the Niger state House of Assembly for approval.
