Bet9ja Agent’s Lament New Bonus Policy, Call For Reversal

Some agents of Nigerian betting company, Bet9ja, have berated the company over a new bonus target policy it purportedly introduced.

According to the said policy, which took effect in January 2023, agents are expected to turn in sales of N150,000 on “sport” product, to get N30,000 bonus, which some of them claimed was not like that before.

Some of them who spoke saharaReporters also complained of low turnout of customers compared to before.
They said the running of the business is hard due to inflation of things, asking the betting company to review the commission payment scheme.

One of them said, “We are working without good commission, same commission when petrol is sold N165, it’s still same commission now that fuel is N250 per liter, the running of the business is hard due to inflation of things but instead of the management to review the commission payment scheme, they put up an imaginary bonus task for us.

“Since these new target policies came up I make good sales on virtual, I never collected any bonus because the sport target has been attached to the requisite to get the bonus, imagine in my shop making sales of N1.2 million on virtual and make sales of N100 on sport, I didn’t get bonus.

“The bonus would be easy if there is not competition in the sport betting, a lot do not come to shop to play sport bet again, they go online and it’s affecting we agents. Major reason the target is not feasible to achieve.”

Another agent who identified himself as Segun said, “They claimed some super agents are doing multiple betting across their shops and some agents asked them who appointed those super agents?
“They are the one that appointed them and we agents work under them but so sad the bulk of the benefits are taking by the super agents and same super agents are the one doing multiple betting.

“How will someone like me face and manage my business well when I know I have no other means? The virtual sale is what we make and these days; it’s hard we hardly make good sales.

“We urge them to reverse the target policy that has stripped responsible agents like me to get bonus and that makes me looks as if I’m just working but nothing was seen.”
