
President Muhammadu Buhari has flagged off operations of the Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Development Institute (AMEDI) Lafia, as part of efforts to make Nigeria the West-Africa’s hub for the development of agro-allied industries, machines and technologies.
The president commended the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure’s (NASENI) Prof. Mohammed Sani Haruna and his Management team for completing the project in record time after the foundation laying ceremony in August,2022.
According to the president, the institute Equipped with modern laboratories and machines for mechanized farming was to achieve Agricultural revolution within the West African sub-region and also to reduce Nigeria’s reliance on importation of foreign technologies.
President Buhari who noted that the Institute houses a smart administrative block, Juice Producing Machine, Tomatoes paste production and Milk production factories
said the initiative would create jobs for the unemployed youths and create wealth.
NASENI boss Prof. Mohammed Haruna thanked the President for the financial backing of the Federal government.
The Governor of Nasarawa state Abdullahi Sule, appreciated the President for the projects saying that it would transform agricultural production in the country and ensure food security.
