The Borno State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has provided counselling intervention to 250 drug addicts in the last six months.
The State Commander, Mr Joseph Icha stated this at an event to mark the 2023 international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Maiduguri.
Mr Icha also said the Command has admitted about 14 people into the rehabilitation centre and 10 of them have been discharged while four were still in the facility.
“The rehab activity is in two phases. We have brief counselling intervention and admissions of hard drug addicts into the rehabilitation centre,” he said.
He expressed concern over the increased number of illicit drug trafficking and called on the State Government to complement its effort by providing rehabilitation for them.
The Wife of Borno State Governor, Dr Falmata Zulum presented start-up materials to some women.
