The Commissioner, Delta State Bureau for Special Duties, Ejiro Etacherure and his management team have presented a total sum of two billion, five hundred and two million naira (#2,502,000,000.00) only, as the Bureau’s budget proposal for the 2025 financial year.
Presenting the proposal at the 2025 Budget Defense Session for Ministries, Departments and Agencies,organized by the Ministry of Economic Planning, Etacherure appealed to the committee for an increase in the Bureau’s Capital and Recurrent Estimates to enable the Bureau cater for outstanding commitments and embark on new projects in the Bureau and its agencies.
In a breakdown of the total sum, Etacherure requested an increase of one billion, three hundred and eighty-two million naira (#1,382,000,000.00) only over the 2024 budget sum one billion, one hundred and twenty million naira (#1,120,000,000.00) only, bringing the total sum of the 2025 estimates to two billion, five hundred and two million naira (#2,502,000,000.00) only.
In response, the Commissioner, Ministry of Economic Planning, Sonny Ekedayen gave a tentative approval of two billion naira (2,000,000,000.00) only to the Bureau and twelve million naira (#12,000,000.00) to the Muslim Pilgrims Board as against one million, two hundred thousand naira (#1,200,000.00) only, in the 2024 approved budget.
He further approved five hundred million naira (#500,000,000.00) only, for the Disaster Management Fund to cater for victims of disasters across the state.
