The Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, (PFN), Ughelli North chapter, Dr Mere Waririhas stated the commitment of his administration to the vision and aspiration of the founding fathers, which is to have a unified fellowship of a people with a common faith, preaching the gospel of salvation to all men.
Dr. Wariri stated this during the 29 years anniversary of PFN in Ughelli North which was held on Sunday at Church of God Mission, Epetuku Street, Ughelli. The ceremony also marked the one year in office of the present administration.
Wariri said the 6th administration was centered on three cardinal agendas which were to expand the membership strength of PFN, emphasizing on preaching the undiluted word of God, center on salvation and building a befitting secretariat for the body.
He said since assumption of office, these visions had been vigorously pursued and the foundation of the secretariat had been laid.
According to Wariri, “The inauguration of this administration was done on the 29th of October,2023, which also marked the 28th anniversary of this great fellowship.
“Upon assumption of office, our administration set in mind to be committed to the visions and aspirations of the founding fathers, which is to have a unified fellowship of people with a common faith.
“The 6th administration sets for herself three cardinal goals; to develop and build a befitting secretariat for the LGA; to expand the membership strength of churches and ministries in the PFN through the collaborative efforts of all executive members; and to emphasize the preaching of the undiluted gospel of salvation offered to all men by our Lord Jesus Christ, proclaiming the second coming of Jesus Christ.
“We, by the special grace of God and with your support, have fulfilled all obligation to the provinceand the state as well as the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) in Ughelli North in our first year in office.
“In line with our agenda for membership increase, almost all the mega churches in Ughelli North have been brought into the PFN fold.
“The vision of our founding fathers for a befitting secretariat was boosted on Thursday October 24, when the foundation of the project was laid at Ododegho, near Eruemukowhoarien by the immediate past state Chairman of PFN, Bishop Dr. Kingsley Enakirerhi.”
He commended past leaders of PFN and members of his Exco for their unwavering support and commitment.
In his homily titled, “In A Time Like This,” Bishop (Prof), Chris Okoh, described the times as frustrating with many people ‘jakparing’ (a local term for leaving the country to travel abroad for greener pastures) from the country.
Bishop Okoh said there was global economic recession and many pastors had resulted to gimmicks to make ends meet, while sin was on the increase. He said the youth were not left out as many had taken to drugs, prostitution, fraud and shedding of innocent blood.
The man of God urged Christians to be more committed to the service of God and run away from every appearance of sin, emphasizing that the difficult times should not be taken as yardstick to doing things contrary to the will of God.
He said,” In time like this, we need to change from our evil ways and seek for God’s forgiveness. We should discipline ourselves and our flesh.
“In today’s church, there are many deceivers who call themselves pastors. We should run away from them and look unto God for His faithfulness and goodness,” he added.
The ceremony was rounded off with the presentation ofan award to the immediate state Chairman of PFN, Bishop Dr Kingsley Enakirerhi and other pastors.
