Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu has described gratitude not expressed as the worst form of Ingratitude as the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ), State Information Chapel Celebrates three retired Comrades.
The Commissioner stated this during the retirement celebration of Comrades Kingsley Azuh, Tina Oki and Onoriode Etatsemi who served the state government meritoriously through the Ministry of Information before their retirement, in Asaba,the state capital.
According to Aniagwu who was represented by the Functioning Permanent Secretary of the Ministry,Mrs Theresa Oliko the tireless and selfless services of the Comrades were not only beneficial to the Ministry alone by the state in general.
Aniagwu showered encomium on the retirees for their meaningful contributions towards the growth and development of the ministry and stage at large.
He reminded the retirees that being out of the service does not mean being out of the world, adding that there is more life as he wished them success in their future endeavours.
Aniagwu thanked God for the lives of the retirees for leaving the service of the state in good health with friends and colleagues to celebrate with them as he congratulated and wished them well in their future endeavours.
In their respective remarks, the retirees recounted their experiences while in the service of the state as they encouraged serving officers to uphold integrity and selflessness while discharging their duties.
They thanked the Commissioner, the Functioning Permanent Secretary, Management and staff of the ministry for celebrating them in grand style.
They used the medium to advocate the need for the ministry to continuously train and retrain staff to enhanced optimum performance
Earlier, the Chapel Chairman, Comrade Kenneth Obieh in his welcome address x-rayed the selfless services of the retirees towards the development and continuous existence of the Union.
He assured the retirees that when and where necessary they would consult them adding that they were always welcome to the Union’s activities.
Obieh used the medium to charge officers on cooperation and unity as he described it as the only way forward.
Goodwill messages were received from the Vice-president of NAWAOJ, Zone F, Comrade Stella Macaulay, Chairman, NUJ, State Council, Comrade Churchill Oyowe and other staff of the Ministry.
Highlights of the celebration was the presentation of cash and gifts items to the retirees by the Ministry, Chapel and others.
