The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Police Command to stronger collaboration with other security agencies in tackling crime across the state.
CP Oyeniyi made this known on Monday during separate courtesy visits to the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Delta State Command, where he was accompanied by members of the Police Command Management Team.
During the visits, the Police Commissioner stressed that crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, child trafficking and drug-related offences are linked and require a united response from security agencies.
According to him, “No single agency can effectively address today’s security challenges alone. We must continue to work together through intelligence sharing, joint operations and mutual support.”
At the NDLEA Command, CP Oyeniyi described drug trafficking and substance abuse as major drivers of crime, warning that they also pose a serious threat to the future of young people.
He called for stronger joint efforts to curb the spread of illicit drugs and reduce criminal activities associated with substance abuse.
In their responses, the Commander of the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General M. Shonibare, and the Delta State NDLEA Commander, CN Halilu Hamidu, commended the Police Command for the initiative and pledged continued partnership.
They both emphasised the need for sustained intelligence sharing, coordinated operations and institutional cooperation to maintain peace and security in Delta State.
The visits, observers say, highlight the renewed determination of the Delta State Police Command to deepen inter-agency synergy and promote a safer environment for residents.
