The management of Aniocha North Local Government Council has commenced the enforcement of regulations guiding the placement of billboards across the local government area.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Hon. Kennedy Okoh, who noted that the Council’s Environmental and Revenue Committee has observed a growing level of non-compliance with the relevant laws regulating billboard installations within the area.
According to the statement, all individuals, corporate organizations, and other entities that currently own billboards within Aniocha North Local Government Area are required to visit the Chairman’s Office at the Council Secretariat, Issele-Uku, within seven (7) days from the date of the notice for proper verification and approval of their billboard structures.
Hon. Okoh emphasized that the exercise is aimed at ensuring compliance with existing regulations, enhancing environmental management, and strengthening revenue administration within the local government.
He urged members of the public to accord the directive the seriousness it deserves, stressing that the initiative reflects the council’s commitment to effective revenue generation and sustainable development across Aniocha North Local Government Area.
The statement further stated that all prospective billboard owners must henceforth obtain the necessary permits and approvals from the council before erecting any billboard within the locality.
The council warned that appropriate enforcement measures would be taken against any individual or organization found to be in violation of the regulations.
