TracTrac Mechanisation Service Limited has launched the Young People in Mechanisation (YPiM) initiative, a youth-focused programme designed to promote agricultural mechanisation and create employment opportunities for young Nigerians.
The programme, launched on Monday in Abuja, aims to engage 1,000 youths from each of the 36 states in its pilot phase.
Speaking at the launch, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Godson Ohuruogu, said the initiative seeks to address the shortage of technical skills and low youth participation in agriculture.
He said the programme would equip young Nigerians aged 18 to 35 with practical skills, mentorship and opportunities in mechanisation, entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership and advocacy.
He said participants will be empowered to build sustainable livelihoods while contributing to agricultural transformation and national food security.
He said the company has so far reached more than 500,000 farmers, supported over 6,000 Mechanisation Service Providers (MSPs) and facilitated the deployment of 800 tractors across several states.
He added that the company’s digital platform, TracTrac Plus, connects farmers directly with service providers, while offering asset tracking, farm mapping and demand aggregation.
