The governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has called on the Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Asaba and District Society, to uphold the core values of integrity, unity, and vision in the discharge of her responsibilities, for the progress of the profession and society at large.
The governor stated this at the investiture of the 18th Chairperson of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Asaba and District Society, Mrs. Onajite Jarikre, FCA, and the inauguration/ of the 2026/2027 executive committee/luncheon.
Governor Oborievwori, who was represented by the commissioner for Economic Mr. Sonny Ekedayen, FCA, who was also the chairman of the event, stated: “We celebrate not only the emergency of Mrs. Jarikre as chairman but also the value of excellence of service that defines the institute.”
He added that her roles extend beyond professional duties to mentoring and financial discipline.
Oborevwori reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to working with professional bodies such as ICAN, noting that good governance, fiscal responsibility and ethical leadership are key to building a prosperous Delta”.
Gov Oborievwori further stated: “The progress the state is making today is anchored on prudent management of public resources, fiscal discipline and responsible governance,” he stated.
Earlier in her address, the 62nd President of ICAN, Queenlsey Seghosime, FCA, noted:
“This moment reminds us of how far the Asaba District Society has come, and how gratifying it is.”
Represented by Mrs. Ejiroghene Jacdonmi, FCA, 13th Chairman of ICAN Asaba and District Society, she further stated; “Your emergence as Chairman attests to your leadership capacity, professional competence, credibility, and commitment.”
She expressed confidence that Jarikre’s tenure would be engraved on the sands of time.
Mr. Ogheneriobororue Akiri, FCA, immediate past Chairman of ICAN Asaba and District Society, urged the incoming Chairman to remain focused and prioritize unity for effective service.
In her acceptance speech, the 18th Chairman of ICAN Asaba & District Society, Mrs. Onajite Jarikre, pledged to serve with commitment, excellence, and accountability.
She noted that the relevance of ICAN Asaba & District Society extends far beyond meetings and professional gatherings.
“Our impact must be felt in government, business, academia, and in society at large,” she stated
She continued, “It is against this backdrop that our administration shall pursue a clear and focused agenda which I have termed ‘Asaba RISE’ an agenda anchored on relationship, innovation, service, excellence and sustainability.”
The highlight of the event was the investiture of the 18th Chairman with the E-Signature Medal, the symbol of authority for the office.
