Delta State has been described as one of the safest states in Nigeria, owing to sustained collaboration among security agencies and proactive peace-building initiatives.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu, stated this while receiving a delegation from the Office of the National Security Adviser, on an advance visit ahead of the National Crisis Response Exercise 2026 scheduled to hold in Asaba.
Dr. Emu attributed the state’s relative peace to effective inter-security-agency cooperation, timely intelligence gathering and an institutionalised conflict resolution framework.
He also commended President Bola Tinubu for strengthening the nation’s security architecture, including the creation of four additional divisions of the Nigerian Army.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Director of the Presidential Communication, Command and Control Centre, Rear Admiral Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, said Delta State was selected to host the five-day multi-agency crisis response exercise because of its peaceful environment and strategic importance.
He explained that the exercise, codenamed Exercise Rapid Response 3, is designed to improve coordination among security and emergency response agencies in tackling terrorism and other major security threats, while also testing the National Crisis Management Doctrine and standard operating procedures.
He added that the visit was to assess facilities and brief the Delta State Government ahead of the exercise scheduled for 7th to 11th September 2026 in Asaba.
