Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Emomotimi Guwor, has called on the people of Oporoza community and the entire Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Niger Delta region to sustain their support for the administrations of President Bola Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.
The Speaker made the call at the inauguration of a modern market in Oporoza, the traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.
Speaking outside the prepared speech delivered at the ceremony on behalf of the Governor, Guwor said, “President Tinubu and Oborevwori administrations have demonstrated commitment to the development and wellbeing of the people of the Niger Delta, We should reciprocate the gesture through continued political support.”
He appealed to the people to “vote for President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 elections”.
He added, “I am speaking as a son of the soil. Unequivocally, we will speak very loud. Not even one vote from Gbaramatu Kingdom will go to any other person. Mr. President, Bola Tinubu, has been so gracious to our people.
“Economic opportunities created in the Niger Delta region had positively impacted many residents, particularly through companies and initiatives operating in the area. “You hardly can find any man or woman that is not benefiting in one way or the other from Tantita or Maton”.
The Speaker further noted that the modern market would improve commercial activities, as well as create opportunities for traders, enhance local economic activities and contribute to the overall transformation of Oporoza and neighbouring communities.
While emphasizing that the commissioning of the market forms part of efforts to strengthen infrastructure and economic activities in Oporoza and promote sustainable development in the riverine communities of Delta State, the Speaker assured the people that their support for government would be reciprocated through sustained attention to their developmental needs.
He acknowledged the influence of traditional rulers and community leaders in shaping the political direction of the kingdom, expressing confidence that their leadership would continue to guide the people towards supporting the APC.
“When our chiefs say that this is the direction, and I already know the direction of our chiefs. That direction is to vote for Mr. President, to vote for all APC candidates, including our governor”, he said.
