The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state to approach their places of primary assignment with dedication, discipline, integrity and a positive attitude.
The Governor gave the charge on Wednesday at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch B Stream 2 Orientation Course for Corps Members deployed to Delta State, held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Issele-Uku.
Governor Oborevwori congratulated the Corps Members on the successful completion of their orientation course, noting that the intensive training had prepared them for the responsibilities and challenges of national service.
He commended the Corps Members for the discipline, resilience and commitment they demonstrated throughout the orientation exercise, stressing that the programme had equipped them with important values including discipline, teamwork, leadership, patriotism and selfless service.
According to him, the true impact of their service would not be determined by where they were posted, but by the commitment, integrity and professionalism they brought to their assignments.
The Governor urged them to strive for excellence and remain innovative, dependable and solution-oriented, whether serving in schools, health facilities, government offices, private organisations, farms or rural communities.
He equally urged them to take full advantage of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, noting that the skills acquired through the scheme could provide valuable opportunities beyond the service year.
The Governor appealed to employers and host institutions across the state to continue supporting the NYSC scheme by providing Corps Members with conducive working environments, proper mentorship and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to their organisations.
He charged the Corps Members to remain law-abiding, respect the customs and traditions of their host communities, promote peaceful coexistence and uphold the ideals of the National Youth Service Corps.
“On behalf of the Delta State Government, I wish you a safe, rewarding and successful service year,” the Governor said.
Governor Oborevwori thereafter formally declared the 2026 Batch B Stream 2 Orientation Course closed.
Also speaking, the NYSC Delta State Coordinator, Mr. John Vandi T. Kwaghe, encouraged the Corps Members to take their Community Development Service seriously and use the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to their host communities.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for the support his administration has continued to provide to the NYSC scheme in Delta State.
The ceremony marked the successful completion of the orientation phase for the 2026 Batch B Stream 2 Corps Members, who are expected to proceed to their various places of primary assignment across the state.
