The Delta State Ministry of Information has held a send-forth ceremony in honour of twenty-six (26) Batch ‘C’ 2025/2026 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who completed their one-year service in the Ministry, with a charge on them to uphold the values of integrity, discipline and responsibility as they transition into the next phase of their lives.
The ceremony, which celebrated the contributions of the outgoing corps members, was attended by management and staff of the Ministry, including the Functioning Permanent Secretary, Mrs Stella Macaulay, who represented the Honourable Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu.
Addressing the corps members, Mr Aniagwu congratulated them on the successful completion of their national service, describing the milestone as the beginning of another important phase in their personal and professional development.
He noted that the transition from school to the realities of life presents young graduates with new responsibilities, decisions and challenges, urging them to apply the knowledge, skills and values acquired during their service year to their future endeavours.
According to him, the lessons learnt from the various Directors and other officers in the departments where they served should not end with their exit from the Ministry but should serve as a foundation for their future careers and personal growth.
Mr Aniagwu, drawing from his own life experiences, encouraged the corps members to remain open to learning, embrace opportunities for growth and use the knowledge gained from people around them to make meaningful contributions wherever they find themselves.
He also advised them to be guided by their conscience and uphold their personal values, particularly as the country approaches another election period.
“Do not sell your conscience for a pot of porridge. Whatever opportunities come your way, let integrity remain your guiding principle. The decisions you make today can have lasting consequences for your future,” he admonished.
The Commissioner further encouraged the corps members to maintain the relationships they had built during their service year, assuring them that the Ministry remained a place where they could seek guidance and advice as they navigated the next stage of their lives.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s open-door policy, noting that the management remained accessible to young people seeking mentorship, professional guidance and opportunities to develop themselves. He urged them to remain responsible, respectful and committed to building worthwhile relationships as they moved forward.
In his goodwill message, the Director of the Department of New Media, Mr Timothy Agbaragu, commended the corps members for their service and contributions to the Ministry, noting that the experience gained during their one-year assignment should prepare them for the demands of the workplace and the wider society.
He encouraged them to remain diligent, creative and adaptable in a rapidly changing professional environment, stressing the importance of continuous learning, teamwork and a positive attitude towards work.
Mr Agbaragu also urged them to see the end of their service year not as a conclusion but as the beginning of greater opportunities, advising them to preserve the relationships they had established and uphold the values of professionalism and integrity wherever their careers might take them.
Speaking on behalf of the outgoing corps members, Egbo Kosisochukwu expressed appreciation to the Delta State Government for providing them with the opportunity to serve in the state and contribute to public service during their national service year.
Kosisochukwu commended the government for creating a conducive environment for young graduates to undertake their service, learn and gain valuable professional experience.
She also expressed gratitude to the Honourable Commissioner, Mr Charles Aniagwu, for his tremendous support, care and encouragement throughout their stay in the Ministry, noting that the attention and assistance extended to them made their service year a memorable and rewarding experience.
She further appreciated the Functioning Permanent Secretary, Directors and other members of staff for their guidance, cooperation and willingness to share their knowledge, adding that the experience had broadened their understanding of the workings of government and the responsibilities of public service.
The outgoing corps members pledged to put the lessons learnt into practice as they progressed in their various careers and other life pursuits, while maintaining the relationships built during their time in the Ministry.
The high point of the ceremony was the presentation of souvenirs to the outgoing corps members in recognition of their service and contributions to the Ministry.
The event provided an opportunity for the Ministry to appreciate the corps members for their commitment while encouraging them to embrace the future with confidence, integrity and a determination to make positive contributions to society.
