

Hon Moses Odunwa a two term lawmaker representing Ikwo South State Constituency has emerged the Speaker of Ebonyi 7th Assembly.
The State Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru who was the Speaker of 5th and 6th Assembly inuagurated the 7th Assembly, before the election of the principal officers commenced.
He was nominated by the member representing Afikpo south state Constituency, Hon Nkemka Okoro Onuma and seconded by Hon Abiri Godwin Abiri representing Izzi west Constituency.
The Borno state House of Assembly has unanimously elected Abdulkarim Lawan as Speaker of the 10th Assembly.
Lawan was the immediate past speaker of the nineth Assembly and had been presiding over the House since the sixth Assembly.
Clerk of the Assembly Jidayi Mamza announced that the House has received proclamation from the state Governor Babagana Zulum to hold its first session on the 13 June 2023.
“The House has received message of proclamation from his Excellency Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum requesting it to hold its first session on Tuesday, 13 June 2023 based on powers conferred on him in section 105 sub section 3 of the 1999 Constitution as amended” the Clerk said.
Member-elect representing Marte, Gambomi Marte moved for the nomination of Abdulkarim Lawan and seconded by member-elect representing Jere Abba Kyari Kolo.
The House also unanimously elected the immediate past Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Musa from Askira/Uba state constituency as the Deputy Speaker.
Both members accepted the nomination and expressed readiness to serve.
In his acceptance speech shortly after taking the oath of office and that of allegiance, Abdulkarim Lawan who has been the Speaker for 12 years, commended the members for re-electing him and urged the newly inaugurated members to tighten their belt and work closely with the executive arm to transform the state in areas of education, food security, security among others.
The Speaker promised to operate an open door policy to move the Assembly to another level.
Kano
Meanwhile, the member representing Rogo constituency, Ismai’l Jibrin Falgore of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has emerged Speaker of the 10th Kano State House of Assembly.
The new speaker was nominated by member representing Dala Constituency Lawal Hussaini and seconded by Musa Ali Kachako, representing Takai.
Also, member representing Rimin Gado/ Dawakin Tofa constituency Muhammad Bello Butu Butu clinched the deputy speakers seat where the acting clerk Alhaji Ali Maje swore in the speaker and his deputy.

Kano State House of Assembly
In his acceptance speech, the speaker Alhaji Isma’il Jibrin Falgore reiterated his commitment in working according to the constitution.
He pointed out that the House would work assiduously by mapping out laws aimed at promoting good governance and accountability.
The speaker urged the lawmakers to contribute their quota by supporting the state government to achieve the desired objectives.
Kwara
In Kwara the Lawmaker representing Ilesha-Gwanara Constituency in Baruten Local Government Yakubu Danlad-Salihu has been re-elected as Speaker of the 10th Kwara State House of Assembly.
Danladi-Salihu emerged following a motion for his nomination as Speaker by member representing Kaiama-Kemaji-Wajibe Constituency, Abdullahi Danbaba and seconded by Fatimah Lawal representing Ilorin-East.

Similarly, Emmanuel Oyebode of Oke-Ogun Constituency was also elected as Deputy Speaker of House unopposed.
In his acceptance, Engineer Danladi-Salihu promised to justify the confidence reposed him and his colleagues.
He was first elected as Speaker of the Ninth Kwara State House of Assembly in 2019.
Kaduna
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani has congratulated Alhaji Yusuf Liman and Mr Magaji Henry on their election as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly respectively.

Governor Sani also commended the transparent and fair process that led to the emergence of the two lawmakers and believe that their election was a testament to the confidence reposed in them by their colleagues.
Niger
The situation is not different in Niger where a first time legislator and former commissioner for Local Government Community Development and Chieftancy Affairs, Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji, representing Mariga Constituency was elected as the speaker of the 10th Assembly.
Daji was elected Speaker after he being nominated by member representing Bida two constituency, Mohammed Haruna and seconded by member representing Borgu constituency, Abdulrahaman Gambo.

Also elected is the only female member in the tenth Assembly, Mrs Afiniki Dauda, representing Gurara constituency as the Deputy speaker.
