
The Niger coup plotters, led by General Abdourahamane Tchiani have formed a new transitional government with 21 ministers after the recent appointment of an economist, Mahamane Lamine Zeine as prime minister.
They include six military ministers, two ministers of state and a deputy minister.
The appointment is coming before the ECOWAS meeting scheduled for Thursday in Abuja.
In its last meeting, the ECOWAS gave the Niger juntas until Sunday, August 6, to reinstate President Mohamed Bazoum. It also sent delegates which Niger rejected.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu, who is also the chairman of ECOWAS said he would work with the council of Ulamas to restore peace to the Niger Republic.
