The Lagos State Honourable Commissioner of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr. Olugbenga Oyerinde has hinted that the Ministry is taking some progressive steps in ensuring that NYSC Lagos aspiration in having a permanent Orientation Camp is actualized.

He made this revelation during a courtesy visit by the State Coordinator NYSC Lagos, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa, to the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Alausa, Ikeja, earlier this week.
The Commissioner who promised to sustain the robust relationship between the Ministry and the NYSC, stated that “the mutual relationship we have established overtime cannot be overemphasized, my tenure will not be an exception, rather, we will scale it up.” Concerning the construction of the Orientation camp, Mr. Oyerinde said “the issue is a challenge to me, it does not befit the status of Lagos on issue of Orientation Camp, which is why I have had to attend to the issue with enthusiasm.” Earlier, the State Coordinator, NYSC Lagos, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa, appreciated the Honourable Commissioner for showing up for the scheme immediately after his appointment.

According to Mrs Baderinwa, “we have engaged with two commissioners, whom we have good relationship with, and the way you have started, we know the relationship will be sustained or better.” While appreciating the Commissioner for the initiative taken about the orientation camp, Mrs Baderinwa said the corps members of the scheme have served the State in virtually all sectors of the State, she urged the Commissioner to facilitate the acceptance of corps members into the agricultural sector which she emphasized is crucial at this period of economic strain.
