
The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has issued an apology to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu regarding the ongoing political crisis in the state.
Aiyedatiwa expressed his regret for the negative news and discomfort that the Governor had experienced in recent months.
During a press conference in Akure, Aiyedatiwa who pledged his loyalty to Governor Akeredolu and his commitment to the development of the state, emphasised the importance of calming tensions in order to restore peace and tranquility.
The Deputy Governor expressed his gratitude to Governor Akeredolu for intervening and persuading members of the Ondo State House of Assembly to embrace a political solution proposed by their party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), instead of pursuing his impeachment.
He vehemently denied all allegations made against him by those seeking to remove him from office before the next election, stating that he will continue to conduct himself with decorum in the face of false and baseless accusations.
The Deputy Governor clarified that he has never been involved in any protests or campaigns calling for the Governor’s resignation and distanced himself from any individual or group engaging in such activities.
Aiyedatiwa also expressed his gratitude to the national leadership of the APC for their intervention in the impeachment proceedings pledging his commitment to the reconciliation efforts aimed at restoring peace in the state.
The Deputy Governor called for peace amongst all political actors in Ondo state, urging them to prioritize the development of the state.
The Ondo State House of Assembly had been bent on impeaching the Deputy Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa who was accused of gross misconduct, despite the ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja halting the impeachment.
