
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has promised the donation of N50m to support members of the Nigerian Legion in the state.
The Governor made the promise at the Appeal Fund and launch of the Year 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem at the Lagos House, Ikeja.
Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their significant contribution to national unity and peace.
The Governor assured that widows of ex-servicemen would continue to enjoy free skills acquisition and other measures from the state government to make their lives better.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion in the State, Akeem Wolimoh said the ex-servicemen had continued to provide support for the civil authorities and needed their support to continue to be relevant.
The State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr Ibrahim Layode said the Armed Forces Remembrance Day was an annual celebration to remember the supreme sacrifice of members of the Armed Forces and their bereaved families.
The high point of the celebration was the decoration of the governor with the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem.
