
The Nigeria Labour Congress, Delta State Council has urged the Delta State Government and Local Government Council in the State to immediately implement the new minimum wage in the state with effect from 29th July, 2024 as contained in the Federal Government’s enabling circular.
This is part of resolutions reached by the labourcongress at its state executive council meeting which was held on Thursday at the Labour House, Asaba.
The meeting, presided over by Comrade Goodluck Ofobruku, Council Chairman, while appreciating the state government for constituting the Negotiating Committee for the implementation of the new minimum wage in the state, also constituted a Task Force to ensure the full compliance with the new minimum wage in both public and private sectors in the 25 local government areas of the state.
In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, the NLC called on the private sector to commence the payment of the new minimum wage to their workers in the state with immediate effect.
While affirming that the Nigeria Labour Congress in the state is ready for negotiations, SEC-in-SESSION urged all workers to be patient, assuring that there would be a full implementation of the New Minimum Wage in Delta State after negotiations.
