
The Delta State Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr ThankGod Trakiriowei has been commended by the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) for the numerous and purposeful driven initiatives which were targeted at improving the lives of youths in Delta State.
The organization Rep and the Vicar of the Catholic Youth Commission, Warri Dioceses, Rev. Fr. Tega Louis Ogbeni said it has become necessary to commend the great works and initiatives of the Honourable Commissioner and the Youth Ministry and also to draw the attention of the Ministry on the needs of the organization, as the organization remains the vehicle through which the lives of many youths could be impacted positively.
Rev. Ogbeni said CYON has impacted many the lives, highlighting discovering of four youths with different talents through her mega CYON GOT Talent program, export of human capital via provision of job opportunities for youths to travel out legally for greener pasture, as well as organizing two educative and social programs every year as some of the organization’s contributions to youth development in the state.
The renowned Rev Fr cited unemployment as one of the factors and challenges affecting youth development in the state. He stated that by working together with the youth Ministry, the youth of the state would be engaged meaningfully.
Fr Ugbeni used the medium to announce a two-fold packed event viz: Diocesan Triennial Rally and Diocesan Youth Day, fondly called DYD holding in the month of August from Thursday 21st 2025 to Sunday 24th, 2025, and the Rally of Hope to follow after.
In appreciation, the youth Commissioner thanked the group for the visit and assured them of the Ministry’s support at all times.
“The Ministry was created because of youth. So, when you come here, you are in your house. That is why our doors are always opened”
The Commissioner assured the organization of the Ministry support in their programs. “The Christian youths form the integral part of the youth groups in the Ministry. So, we will work together at all times for the betterment of our youths,” he said.
