The Head of Service of Delta State, Dr (Mrs) Mininim Oseji has emphasized that Civil Service is a training ground for greater service even after retirement as digitization would be an important component of such training in the state.
Dr Oseji made this known while fielding questions from newsmen in her office at Asaba.
Outlining some goals which she set out to achieve within her first 100 days in office, the Head of Service assured civil servants that with commitment, dedication, hard work and the help of God, 19 activities have been initiated and they include amongst others; Introduction of Homestead Gardening to Civil Servants, Strengthening the Implementation of Procurement Processes in the state civil service, Establishment of Ethics Research Committee, Digitalization of the civil service/ Capacity Building, Establishment of Statistics Units in MDAs and Incorporating the Servicom Unit for Monitoring.
The HOS further revealed that the 20th activity, which was the Pilot Mass Transit Program for the transportation of Staff of the office of the Head of Service and the Directorates under her office to work had just been initiated.
This initiative, according to her was to” Reduce the Cost of Transportation for Staff as well as Reduce Environmental Pollution in Asaba.”
She revealed that getting the Pilot Mass Transit Buses that would convey Staff to work was the most challenging of the 20 activities she set out to do, while the introduction of Agriculture to Civil Servants was the closest to her heart
Extending her goodwill message to Civil Servants, the Head of Service commended all those who had contributed to making her 100 days in office a reality.
Assuring them that they can achieve anything they set their minds to achieve with the help of God, the HOS noted that there must be evidence of a paradigm shift in all MDA’s as they key into Digitalization to stand the test of time through technology.
