The Delta State Ministry of Lands, Surveys, and Urban Development witnessed a momentous occasion as its functioning Permanent Secretary, Mr. Benson Itedjere officially bowed out of service with an Award after a meritorious 35-year career in Delta State Civil Service marked by dedication and integrity.
The send-forth ceremony, which was held in Commissioner’s office marked his official exit from the civil service. It was a modest event, attended by staff to honour his departure.
In a goodwill message, the Honourable Commissioner for Lands, Surveys, and Urban Development, Chief Goodnews Emamusi Obiodeh, described Mr. Itedjere as a rare breed in public service, a silent achiever, and a steadfast team player whose work ethics and humility were second to none.”
Chief Obiodeh praised the outgoing functioning Permanent Secretary for his consistent leadership and institutional knowledge, noting that Mr. Itedjere was not just a public servant but also a pillar of administrative stability whose contributions helped change the ministry’s negative narrative and repositioned it for greater effectiveness and public trust.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, the Commissioner presented Mr. Itedjere with an Award of Meritorious Service of Honour. The award underscored the Ministry’s appreciation for his unwavering commitment, visionary leadership, and exemplary public service throughout his career.
Other members of staff also paid glowing tributes, with many describing him as a father figure, a mentor, and a symbol of discipline and fairness in the civil service.
In an emotional moment, Mr. Itedjere expressed deep gratitude to God, the Delta State Government, and his colleagues.
“This ministry has been my home for some years. It hasn’t always been easy, but every step of the journey has been worth it. I am thankful for the memories, the friendships, and the chance to make a difference. I leave with a full heart,” he said.
