The Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ighoyota Amori, has been cleared of the purported suspension earlier announced by some elements within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ethiope West Local Government Area, following the decision of the Delta State APC State Working Committee (SWC) to nullify all unconstitutional disciplinary actions recently reported from the area.
At its meeting held on Tuesday 28th October at the APC State Secretariat, Asaba, and presided over by the State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, the State Working Committee deliberated extensively on reports submitted by the State Vice Chairman and Delta Central Senatorial District Chairman, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, concerning developments within the Party’s structures in Ethiope West and Ughelli North Local Government Areas.
After careful examination of the findings and evidence presented, and in line with the provisions of the APC Constitution (as amended), the State Working Committee issued a series of resolutions affirming disciplinary due process, upholding internal democracy, and restoring peace within the Party.
In the resolution, the SWC approved the report of the removal of the Ethiope West LGA Chairman, Mr. Efe Amughoro, and his Vice Chairman, Mr. Andrew Enyure, on grounds of gross misconduct, forgery, misappropriation of funds, and acts detrimental to Party unity. The Committee also ratified similar actions taken in Ughelli North LGA, where the Chairman, Secretary, and Organizing Secretary were removed for anti-party activities and insubordination.
Significantly, the SWC set aside the purported suspension of several APC leaders in Ethiope West LGA, including Senator Ighoyota Amori, Hon. Christian Onogba, Hon. Philomena Ededdy, Hon. Godstime Eyowhara, Hon. Benjamin Oboh, Hon. Ejimiyoma Felix, Chief Precious Ajanor, Hon. Ejiro Etacherure, and Hon. Godday Ighomena.
According to the statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq., the SWC found that the suspensions were carried out in violation of Article 21 of the APC Constitution and were therefore unconstitutional, null, and void.
The Committee consequently restored all affected members to full membership rights and privileges within the Party. The SWC also directed that the reports concerning the leadership changes in Ethiope West and Ughelli North LGAs be transmitted to the National Leadership of the Party for ratification, emphasizing that the APC in Delta State remains guided by fairness, justice, and the rule of law in all internal matters.
Furthermore, the Committee clarified that in cases where vacancies occur due to removal, resignation, or death, the assistant officer of the affected position shall assume office in an acting capacity pending proper ratification by the appropriate Party organ.
Reaffirming its commitment to unity and discipline, the Delta APC leadership called on all members to remain loyal and peaceful in the pursuit of the Party’s collective goals, warning that any acts of factionalism or indiscipline will attract constitutional sanctions.
The SWC concluded with a call for renewed cohesion and focus under the banner of “APC Renewed Hope for the M.O.R.E. Agenda.”
This decisive action by the Party hierarchy has effectively laid to rest the controversies surrounding the purported suspension of Senator Ighoyota Amori, a prominent leader of the Party and the current Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State.
