The Delta State Commissioner for Lands, Surveys and Urban Development, Chief Goodnews Obiodeh, has distributed food items valued at several millions of naira to residents of Isoko South Local Government Area as part of activities marking the 2024 Christmas celebration. The yuletide food distribution, included cows, rams and bags of rice, was held at Chief Obiodeh’s country home in Ovwodokpokpo-Igbide, with beneficiaries drawn from families and groups across the Local Government Area. The event attracted a large turnout of community members and leaders.
Speaking at the gathering, Chief Obiodeh described public office as a privilege that should be deployed to positively impact lives as he thanked the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for the confidence reposed in him to serve, noting that the governor’s people-centred leadership philosophy continues to inspire compassion and service to humanity.
The commissioner urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items distributed and to uphold the values of love, unity and peaceful coexistence which the Christmas season symbolizes.
The exercise was attended by notable personalities, including the Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Council, Comrade Warri Ovoke Friday, and his wife, Mrs. Abigail Warri. Others present were the Grand Patron of the Isoko Development Union, High Chief Iduh Amadhe; the Director-General, Delta State Revenue Monitoring and Audit, Barr. Mike Edegware; Chief Lucky Esigie, Chief Joe Aruasi, Hon. Lucky Okperi, party leaders, community stakeholders and residents from different parts of the local government area. Beneficiaries commended Chief Obiodeh for the gesture, describing the Christmas intervention as timely and impactful in view of prevailing economic challenges.
