Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Chief (Mrs.) Rose Ezewu JP, has expressed satisfaction with the turnout of teachers in schools on the first day of school resumption for the second term 2025/2026 academic activities.
In Asaba, the Delta State Capital, the Commissioner, who was represented in the monitoring exercise by one of her aides, Mrs. Justina Ishiaka described resumption monitoring activity as essential in ascertaining the level of compliance by the school heads, teachers and students.
Ezewu urged the principals and teachers to discharge their duties with utmost commitment, just as she appreciated them for their unwavering support and dedication to duty in the past years and 2025 in particular.
The Commissioner told the teachers to ensure that classes began immediately now that the first day of resumption had been used to clean up the classrooms, adding that her Ministry would conduct a resumption test on Thursday, January 8.
While assuring them of the governor’s resolve to improve the education system in line with his MORE Agenda for the benefits of the state, Ezewu asserted that the state was poised to surpass its achievements in the education sector in 2026.
Ezewu said that she was shocked and pained by the report of the death of a teacher in Westend Mixed Secondary School, Late Mrs. Prisca Igbojinwaekwu Majokwu, whom according the principal of the school, Mrs. Augusta Ogeah, passed away due to complications from a recent surgery.
The Secondary Education Commission, however, expressed her heartfelt condolences to the school and the family of the late teacher.
In the separate remarks, the Principal of Westend Mixed Secondary School, Mrs. Augusta Ogeah, her counterpart in charge of Isioma Onyeobi Secondary School, Mrs. Helen Oke Omogbesiayeh and the Principal of Osadenis Mixed Secondary School, Mrs. Patience Ngozi Aguonye as well as Mr. Benedict Aseyeni of Niger Mixed Secondary School, all in Asaba promised to contribute their quota towards the growth and development of the education system.
The Secondary Education Commissioner also monitored school resumption in Warri axis and other local government areas across the state. The monitoring continues.
