In a significant move to boost oil production, Delta State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering peace and security between oil companies and host communities operating within the state.
The State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon. Peter Uviejitobor disclosed today while playing host to the Director General Security Matters and Coordinator, Operation Delta Sweep, Hon. David Tonwe and his team in his office in Asaba.
He said under my leadership, we are dedicated and focused on ensuring that Delta State remains the highest oil-producing state in the country, adding that since my emergence, I and my team have been working selflessly to maintain our position in the oil and gas sector.
“We would collaborate with all security agencies to tackle the security challenges that threaten our oil production, our mediation efforts aim to create a harmonious environment that benefits both the oil companies and host communities”. He said.
“The Ministry of Oil and Gas positioned as the central hub for mediation in the sector, we are confident that our continued interventions in oil and gas issues will not only sustain production levels but also promote stability within the oil and gas industry”. He added.
Speaking earlier, Director General Security Matters and Coordinator, Operation Delta Sweep, Hon. David Tonwe assured him of their support in enhancing peace and security in the oil and gas sector to boost oil production in the state.
Tonwe said we would work in synergy with the ministry to tackle security challenges in the host communities and strengthen host communities to enhance and ensure smooth oil production.
“We need to work in collaboration to strengthen host communities in addressing security challenges and ensure they refrain from taking the laws into their own hands, which could disrupt oil production”. He added.
