Chairman of the Delta State IRS, Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata has stated that the Service is disposed to collaborate with the Nigerian Air Force to ensure effective enforcement and compliance drive amongst tax defaulters.
Hon. Ighrakpata made the declaration today, at his office in Warri, when the Commander, 3144 Operating Base Warri, of the Nigerian Air Force, Group Captain Charles Abara and his team, paid him a courtesy visit.
According to the Revenue Boss, “The Air Force is mostly needed where residents of tax defaulters are protected by armed military personnel, who scare away tax officers of the Service at such areas for enforcement and compliance drive.”
Ighrakpata, had earlier iterated that partnership with the Air Force is imperative in assisting the M.O.R.E. Agenda of His Excellency, Governor Oborevwori, especially in promoting the element of enhancing peace and security.
Earlier, in his presentation, Group Captain Charles Abara had expressed the readiness of the Nigerian Air Force to collaborate with the Revenue Service to ensure effective service delivery in the collection of taxes and levies.
Group Captain Charles further stated that, the primary duty of the Nigerian Air Force is to ensure security of lives and the environment of the Nation, stressing that, “There is a nexus between security and revenue, hence the need for a collaboration between them.”
He also revealed that his visit was necessitated by his desire to familiarize himself with the Revenue boss and his team of Executive Directors, as he was new to the State and the area.
